Dreams vs. Reality

I talked to my Mom recently about goals and dreams. I asked "If you could picture your dream everything, dream life, dream feeling when you wake up every morning, what do you visualize?" She responded with, "I couldn't even tell you." We all have different goals and dreams, some more "far" out than others. My question is: If you have a dream, for any area of your life (relationships, family, finance, career, etc.) then why aren't you currently living your dream? If you can visualize what you want, why don't you reach out and grab it? I have found society today has influenced us to train our brains to actually think feelings of lack versus abundance. We always want more. Have more money, buy more things, go more places, meet more people, etc. These "things" are actually right in front of us, but without focusing your thoughts on your true intentions, these things and opportunities may have slipped by without notice.
This is my introduction to the stunning world of Law of Attraction. This law is as innate as the Law of Gravity. It is a natural Law. If I drop a pen, it will fall. With Law of Attraction: What I think, I will attract. Great minds such as Socrates, Sir Isaac Newton, Ludwig, William Shakespeare, etc. dating back hundreds of years to the beginning of recorded time have told us that this law is one of the most powerful laws in the universe.
Today, we are going to examine an article about Law of Attraction. The delivery and explanation of this Law effect's each individual's interpretation and understanding. What works for one may not work for another. This article, titled "Law of Attraction- Take Control of Your Life," by Jordan Lejuwaan, first pops up if you google "Law of Attraction". The audience for this article would be anyone that is exposed to the rhetorical situs that enables them to want to listen and take charge with the information this piece provides. What interesting to me is that the intended audience is actually: everyone. Every single person is subject to this Law whether they are conscious of it or not. The affected and intended audience will depend on who is particularly moved or intrigued by the information. The specific word choice, persuasion, and rhetoric of this article will only speak to certain people. For example, if the article says "Let's change your life...It's easy!" One person may think, "Yeah right." And leave the site. Another may think, "What? Tell me more." The intended audience is really anyone who will listen to the messenger, but the audience that is reached is limited by the rhetorical situation of each individual person in relation to the article. The genre here is made apparent beginning with the structure of the information. The page and it's presentation translates that it holds very insightful information, but it is also not academically thick or hard to work through. This genre will "respond to situations that writers encounter repeatedly." The clear structure, bulleted list, and easy to navigate information will characterize the informative genre for any reader, making it simple for anyone to be receptive of it's message.
So far so good! Now, read into the page and you will find a basic overview of the Law of Attraction. My issue is with the material of the text. Although it is sound and accurate, it lacks a scientific and evidence based situations to allow the readers to truly make the connection in everyday life. To me, it offers insightful phrases along the lines of "To change your life, you have to change your life!" Sounds great. The author does list specific steps to visualization and manifestation of your thoughts into action. However, without going into details of the power of the mind and how each thought is an actual "physical" frequency, I feel the material lacks certain depth for it to reach to that massive and broader audience.
Overall, this basic google search engine result for the Law is insightful and opens the doors for individuals to do more research- which I hope to follow up on and continue on this blog!
